L week was all about the leaves. Our first day of school we ran out into the cold and picked a couple of leaves, one for the grab bag and a couple more for some fun fall cards for Anni's Nonna and Papa.
She's pretty determined to make a card for John Fox as well, so that's in the works as well as a piece of Halloween candy she picked out. "He will like twizz-el-ers, Mommy."
Our grab bag was pretty awesome this week. We had lettuce, a leopard, a lion, the L block, a light, St. Lucy, a leaf and a ladybug.
We asked St. Lucy for her intercession this week, and, lucky us, one of our wooden dolls is St. Lucy!
Our next day of school, we went on another, longer, leaf hunt and made some leafy hand-print turkeys.

Ah, yes. She (or they when Lucy is with us) gets a sticker on her "sign of the cross" hand. Just a reinforcement on which hand is her right hand/the hand that we do our sign of the cross with. She actually has always had it down pretty well, but she likes getting a sticker so much, we just stick to it.

Adorable! I need to hear about this wooden peg saint exchange you did. They are so stinkin' cute! Perhaps I could convince my parish young mama group to do this... How did it work? I love your themed weeks. It looks like it's been a bit hit, and your crafts are so much fun for this age group! Keep these posts coming. :)
ReplyDeleteIt was pretty simple. Thirteen of us each made thirteen of whatever Saint we chose and then had a little get-together where we each took one of each home (a few people had shipped theirs in and then had their complete set shipped out to them).
DeleteThis is amazing, are the letters sticking with her as the weeks go by? Poor Joey continually confuses letters and numbers, despite my valiant efforts to pull up full episodes of Curious George on Youtube almost daily. Maybe i need to step up my mommy game...
ReplyDeleteShe does remember the letters from week to week! She still mixes up which sounds go with which words sometimes, but she can recognize all the letters and usually remembers what words went with them. Now numbers... those are a slower road thus far ;-).
