Today I got to turn the tables a little on our nugget. My middle of the night pumping ended up being a little later than usual, and so I decided just to stay up. I ate breakfast, took a shower and got dressed before waking Miss Anni up for her doctor's appointment. It was lovely.
The appointment itself went pretty well. She is still growing like crazy - it's wonderful! She was 28.5 inches (75% or 90% adjusted) and 18 lbs 11 oz (50%). Whew! Go, girl! I'm so proud of her. Now, onto the (small) preemie issues that popped up. We discussed the necessity of the end of my pumping in the upcoming months. I'll fill you in on that later, it's not my favorite issue. The doctor did say her hips are a little loose and her muscle tone is a little low. However, she said this could correct itself as we give her time to catch up to her age. We'll re-evaluate at a year if she's still not crawling by then. Luckily, Daniel was able to come to this appointment and tell me not to freak out about it. But I will... just a little. I think it's because she's been so wonderfully healthy, that this little reminder that she wasn't born that way makes me worry... and boy, I am a really, really good worrier :). And speaking of preemie issues, I wanted to share a business I stumbled upon: It's a Preemie Thing. They sell clothes for the preemies of the world and do a lot of preemie mommy support on their fb page. So, just have to pass that along to anyone out there who has a preemie or knows someone with one... make sure you check out their shop.In other news and despite her lack of crawling and pulling herself up to sit, Anni is scootching backwards! I was so excited when she started! She gets frustrated because she generally does it when she wants something in front of her, but it's still movement and adding that to her skillful rolls and pivots... well, she gets into just about everything she's not supposed to have :). She has also started some serious laughing. It is wonderful! I try to catch it on tape when I can... these baby giggles won't last forever and they're seriously soothing to the soul. She is teething like mad and chomps on everything and anything in sight. Yep, even her toes. Only her top two and bottom two teeth are visible at this point, but I have a feeling more will make their appearance soon.
She really does make me happy when skies are grey.

Glad to hear the appointment went well. I have faith she will continue down this path and blossom. She is absolutely adorable! :D
ReplyDeleteI've just started following your blog so I don't know little Anni's whole story. But if it puts your mind at ease any, neither of my children have crawled until after nine-months, and they were both term babies. They hit those milestones when they are ready. ;-D
ReplyDeleteGlad she is well. Blessings!
I'm waiting for the day Joe starts chewing on his toes. He's just discovered them these past few weeks! Makes for some interesting diaper changes!
ReplyDeleteAnd she is one ADORABLE 9 month old! Love love love the yellow headband picture! Keep up the good work, mama. Oh, and worry all you want, that is your job. Well, you know what I mean. :)
