Coming this Christmas Eve(ish)...

My wonderful little excuse for spending most of the spring and summer on the couch and not staying caught up on yard work, editing, blogging, cooking, or really... anything: little lady number three! We reach 20 weeks tomorrow, so halfway there(ish)! I keep hoping for that burst of energy I got in the second trimester with Colette. While I'm not spending nearly as much time, ahem, losing my breakfast/lunch/dinner, I'm starting to think that my second trimester with Colette was a myth created out of relief that that pregnancy was not nearly as hard as my first. Either way, this Christmas season is going to be a whole lot of crazy and a whole lot of fun.

Each baby has gotten their own in-utero nickname, here we have our sweet Poppyseed at just under 20 weeks!

Quotables #5

I know, I know. I disappeared. There are good reasons, but let's just jump back in the game with some humor (Colette even gave us a few quotes this time!)

"A time machine is a house with a lot of clocks see you can see what time it is and it will take you to every place!"

"Last night when I couldn't fall asleep, I blew air out of my ears."

"No no! You're not a bad guy! You just need to handle it nicely."

"I love everyone but bad guys and monsters."

"That bread twirled in my lungs!"

"There's only one a sock in the history of the entire world!"

"How could Colette wake up again?? I'm V – T – L – L tired."

"Good job carrying up the book, Colette."
[C] "Yeah! I gave it to God!" [We carried up the gifts at Mass, one of which was a book of prayers]

[C] "I've got Christmas, and no one can take that away."

We are an Easter People

We headed up to my in-laws on Holy Saturday to begin our Easter preparations. Anni oversaw the egg boiling with Nonna (which is good, because last year our beautiful eggs were all undercooked!)

The girls carefully picked out their eggs and decorated them to their hearts content with the wax crayons.

Colette dyed this orange one, and, holding it in her sweet hands proclaimed, "I made dis one for Papa!" It then rolled out of her hands and smacked onto the ground.

Luckily, it was salvageable, and we kept it safe until Papa made it home from the Easter Vigil rehearsal. Cracks or no cracks, he claimed it was delicious.

Two more eggs bit the dust in very similar if slightly more destructive ways, but the rest of the batch went swimmingly.

Easter Sunday came bright and early after a night filled with a cranky toddler who couldn't seem to get comfortable. But, you know, Easter seems to heal all wounds.

After Mass where we amazingly managed to stay in our pew the whole time, albeit with some extra chatter from the littlest, we had lunch and snuggled in for a little rest.

Then came Easter egg hunting! Anni was going, going, going, and Colette was excited to find them, but even more excited to discover that there were things inside the eggs.

Finally, we settled in for an Easter feast to wrap up our weekend.
